What is Pollution Prevention?

Pollution Prevention(P2) is any activity that reduces or eliminates the generation of pollution AT ITS SOURCE. P2 methods include the use of new technologies, substitute raw materials, conservation practices, efficiency enhancements and recycling.

P2

Pollution Prevention is "NOT" diluting pollution, waste burning, or transfer actions, which create other forms of pollution.

P2 Effects Bottomline!

It's a FACT! The costs of producing goods and services continue to increase on an annual basis. In order to control the sources of raw materials, energy, waste disposal, health care and product liability, businesses need to effectively manage the types of raw materials used and minimize the waste they generate.

Pollution Prevention can be an economically feasible strategy for the short term to achieve this goal and protect and conserve our natural environment.

  • Raw material usage
  • waste disposal expense
  • worker exposure to hazardous materials
  • Product liability threats
  • Environmental regulatory requirements
